Police busts fake call center, arrests 4 people; ₹13.66 Lakhs in cash & 20 ATM cards recovered

A fake call center operating in Kolkata has been busted by the police. The operation was carried out by SI Abdul Hamid Molla and SI Saikat Bhattacharjee of New Town Police Station based on credible information. Four individuals were arrested in the raid, namely Mufeez Maniar (22), Yasir Khan (25), Manish Yadav (32), and Kamal Sharma (28).

The raid took place at an apartment on the 13th floor of Sankalp II in Action Area 1. A total of ₹13.66 Lakhs in cash, 20 ATM cards, 8 mobile phones, 2 laptops, and a notebook were seized from the suspects. Additionally, four cars that were used by them were also seized.

Following their arrest, the suspects revealed that they were part of a larger call center operation. Based on their statements, the police conducted a raid on a rented bungalow in AL 10 Block of Sector II, Salt Lake, Bidhannagar East Police Station. In the raid, 53 computers were seized, and a full-fledged call center was discovered.

The suspects were operating the call center by duping national and international customers in the name of providing tech support. The police are continuing their investigations to arrest the other individuals involved in the operation.
